Jelani is the principal attorney at JD James & Associates PC, specializing in criminal defense, business agreements, entertainment, fashion, finance, transactions, and civil disputes.
Jelani received his Juris Doctorate from The George Washington University Law School after earning his Bachelor of Arts in Economics, with a Mathematics concentration and a focus on the Spanish language, from Morehouse College. Jelani is of Caribbean descent, the son of parents from Trinidad & Tobago, and commands a global perspective with respect to business, trends, and planning, and a fighting spirit capable of surmounting any odds.
Jelani has cultivated a unique seasoned perspective in his representation of the needs of celebrities as well as aspiring talent, in addition to working with premier brands and startups. High stakes representation in criminal defense and civil matters on behalf of high-profile clients, as well as other upstanding members of the community, has been the core focus of his practice.
His legal perspective and representation of innovators is characterized by his participation in the entertainment industry as an instrumentalist, producer, and manager prior to entering into the practice of law, rendering him as uniquely empathetic counsel with the ability to serve and illuminate not only the immediate, but also the long term needs of clients.
Jelani’ s experience has been further honed by his representation as general counsel of small to large sized domestic companies in domestic and international business, within the fields of construction, entertainment, fashion, and government contracting. Jelani is a hands on attorney who is experienced and continuously expanding his skills in design, coding, artificial intelligence, project management and emerging technologies.

Antoine received his Juris Doctorate from NCCU School of Law after earning his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Minor in Spanish from Morehouse College.
Antoine has extensive experience as an entertainment and intellectual property attorney, having successfully prepared responses to complex United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) Office Actions, trademark applications leading to federal registration, and argued in favor of and against Notices of Opposition before the USPTO’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). Antoine's most notable recent TTAB victory was against the Washington Nationals (MLB) in a Notice of Opposition proceeding.
